Purpose of Nutrition Care:

  • To achieve and maintain a nutritionally adequate dietary intake that provides health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases
  • If pregnant, to meet the demands of an expanding blood volume, the growth of maternal tissues, a developing fetus, and loss of maternal tissues at birth
  • If lactating, to meet the specific nutrient requirements necessary to optimize maternal postpartum nutritional status, the quality and quantity of breast milk production, and infant growth and production

Elisabeth will help you do this by:

  • Assisting your understanding of connection between emotions and behaviors.
  • Guiding and teaching you how to develop a healthy relationship with food to develop normal eating patterns for life.
  • Keeping other members of the team aware of changes in progress and struggles.

Treatment is very individualized and together, you and Elisabeth will decide at what frequency you should schedule appointments.

A multidisciplinary approach is often warranted and Elisabeth will be happy to collaborate with your OBGYN, PCP and therapists to coordinate care. Elisabeth will make recommendations for team members on request.
